Many IT managers have an engineering background. Does this mean they transitioned to management because they were once bad programmers?

Years ago, I explored the management path but quickly realized that both engineering and management require very different skill sets. I chose to remain an engineer because my passion lies in building and creating. I'm an engineer at heart. ❤️‍🔥

This insight sheds light on why some programmers become managers while others remain in technical roles. The skill sets for each are distinct, and proficiency in one doesn't necessarily correlate with success in the other.
